A George Nissen Invention
In 1940, George Nissen unveiled the first trampoline for schools and other institutions. He set out to develop and promote a sport to go with it. The company he founded grew to be the world's largest manufacturer of gymnasium apparatus and through years of promotion, the trampoline became an Olympic sport in 2000.

The desire to jump and be free from gravity is an age-old desire of mankind and can be traced back to archaeological drawings. Someone who has helped us improve "the art of jumping" in current times is George Nissen, credited with having invented the modern-day trampoline in the 1930's. George even devised the word trampoline to describe his apparatus by taking the Spanish word trampolin, which means diving board, and anglicizing it.

Since that time, the trampoline has become a fixture in backyards, gymnastic clubs, schools and other institutions around the world. Early on, George set out to develop and promote a sport to go with his device and from its humble beginnings, the sport of trampolining has grown to include the first trampoline World Championships held in 1964 to its debut as an Olympic sport at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

The company George founded to produce trampolines grew to be the world's largest manufacturer of gymnasium apparatus. From the very beginning and to the present day, George has continued to invent and improve on equipment that helps people get fit, have fun, and improve their quality of life.

That philosophy is evident with two of his latest inventions: The Health-Bounce and Spaceball. Funtek USA now brings these two ideas that have revolutionized exercise and fun for all the world to enjoy.
